What Over Temp Means
JennAir's wine cellar page describes the Over Temp alarm as protection against spoiled wine: it gives an audible and visual alert if the temperature in either zone rises above the preset range for ten minutes. The tone stops by itself once temperature returns to normal, but the indicator keeps flashing until the Reset Alarm pad is pressed.
Common Causes of Over Temp
- A door left ajar or not sealing against its gasket
- A large warm load added to one zone at once
- A genuine cooling problem in the affected zone
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press the Reset Alarm touchpad once the cellar has come back into range. JennAir notes that if the over-temperature condition is still present when you reset, the indicator returns - so a reset that will not hold is telling you the problem has not gone.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A wine cellar that drifts warm does its damage quietly over days rather than hours, and the value of what is inside usually exceeds the cost of the visit.
- Diagnosing a genuine cooling problem means working on a sealed refrigeration system, which only an EPA-certified technician may open.
- Repeated resets on a cellar that keeps alarming hide the pattern a technician needs, so note the times rather than just clearing them.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
