What Replace Filter Means
On JennAir columns the page explains the Replace Filter icon flashes throughout each dispense, and that fourteen days after it first appears without the filter being changed, the icon blinks seven times with an alert tone. The icon also stays lit if a filter is fitted but the status is never reset.
Common Causes of Replace Filter
- A water filter past its service interval
- A new filter fitted without the status reset being completed
- A filter that has not seated properly in its housing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Change the water filter, then press and hold the Filter Reset button for three seconds; once the countdown finishes the Replace Filter indicator goes out. If the icon persists with a new filter in place, the reset is what has been missed.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A column refrigerator is built into cabinetry, so a leak from a badly seated filter runs where it cannot be seen until it has been running for some time.
- Cartridges that copy the shape without matching the seal can lock in place and still weep, which is a slow and expensive way to save a little money.
- Repeatedly forcing a cartridge that will not turn damages the filter head, and that is a plumbed part rather than a consumable.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
