What Air Filter Indicator Means
JennAir's air filter page sets out a four-stage indicator for the Freshflow air filter: blue for good, yellow to order a replacement, red with Replace Filter shown when it is due, and red with Replace Filter flashing once it has expired. It is a maintenance prompt, not an error code.
Common Causes of Air Filter Indicator
- An air filter that has reached the end of its service interval
- A new filter fitted without the status being reset
- The original filter never installed from the accessory packet after delivery
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Replace the air filter behind its vented door on the rear wall near the top of the fresh-food compartment, then reset the status by pressing and holding the AIR FILTER button for three seconds until the icon turns off.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- This indicator changes color on a timer, so an appliance showing red is not reporting a failure and does not need a technician for that alone.
- JennAir notes that on some models a foam block is stuck to the filter cover and is deliberately not to be removed, and pulling it off changes the airflow the compartment relies on.
- Forcing a filter into the wrong orientation breaks the retaining tabs on the vented door, which then stops sitting flush.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
