What F3T1 Means
JennAir's F3T1 page names the user interface thermistor or the associated wiring. There is a temperature sensor watching the control panel area itself, and this code says its reading is no longer usable.
Common Causes of F3T1
- A user interface thermistor that has failed or drifted
- Heat reaching the control area because of a restricted vent path
- Damaged wiring between the sensor and the control board
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the microwave cool fully, check that nothing is blocking the vent above the door, and reset at the breaker for a minute before assuming the sensor is the problem.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A sensor that watches the control area exists to protect the electronics, so running the unit with that protection compromised risks the boards it was guarding.
- Judging whether heat is genuinely reaching the panel, rather than the sensor simply misreading, takes measurement while the unit runs hot.
- The panel comes off next to the high-voltage capacitor, which is the single most dangerous part in a domestic microwave.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
