JennAir Over-the-Range Microwave F3C Error Code

JennAir's F3C page names the cavity temperature thermistor or the associated wiring. That thermistor measures the air inside the cooking cavity, and on convection-capable over-the-range models it is what makes controlled baking possible at all.

What F3C Means

JennAir's F3C page names the cavity temperature thermistor or the associated wiring. That thermistor measures the air inside the cooking cavity, and on convection-capable over-the-range models it is what makes controlled baking possible at all.

Common Causes of F3C

  • A cavity thermistor that has failed or drifted out of tolerance
  • A thermistor lead broken where it passes out of the cavity
  • A connector at the control end that has corroded

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Reset at the breaker for a minute, then try a straightforward microwave-only cook and a convection cycle in turn. If only the convection side fails, say so when you book, because that narrows the problem considerably.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The thermistor passes through the cavity wall, and a lead pulled out of its routing during disassembly ends up against hot metal where its insulation slowly fails.
  • Testing a thermistor means resistance readings compared against the specification for the model, which is service data rather than something guessable.
  • Over-the-range units have to be lifted down before the cavity wall is reachable, and their weight overhead makes that a job for two people with a support underneath.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

F3C FAQ

Microwave heating does not depend on the cavity thermistor, but convection and sensor functions do, and the control will restrict them while the reading is untrusted.

JennAir gives both pages the same cavity temperature thermistor description, so they point at the same part through different checks.
