⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the filter, hose, and disposer are already clear, the pump itself carries line voltage, and testing it live is a genuine shock risk.
- Forcing a jammed filter cap can crack the plastic threading, turning a five-minute clean into a full housing replacement.
- A hose reconnected even slightly loose after inspection is one of the more common causes of a slow leak that shows up weeks later.
- Misdiagnosing a pump problem as a hose or disposer issue (or the reverse) means paying for a part that wasn't actually the problem.
