What F03 Means
JennAir's page for F03 on electric cooktops describes an internal communication error on the touch control module. The module that reads your fingertip is failing to talk properly inside itself, which is a different matter from a key being held down by a spill.
Common Causes of F03
- A problem inside the touch control module
- A connection on the module that has worked loose
- Heat or moisture damage to the module over time
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Cut power to the cooktop at the breaker for a full minute and restore it, then leave the surface alone for a minute and watch whether the code comes back unprompted.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Getting at the touch control module means lifting the glass top, and that glass is bonded at its edges and chips there, so a cracked surface can end up costing more than the module.
- Module problems and wiring problems show the same code, and only a technician with the service data can tell which is which before parts are bought.
- The harnesses under the glass are cut short, so the top only rises a few inches before connectors begin pulling off the boards.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
