What FC RF Means
FC RF is the right front member of JennAir's positional cooktop code family: the page names the right front hotplate, in JennAir's wording the cooking surface, burner or element, or the associated wiring.
Common Causes of FC RF
- An open-circuit element or induction coil in the right front position
- Heat damage at the connection serving that zone
- A wiring problem on the right front run
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the surface cool, check nothing has been spilled and baked around that zone, then reset at the breaker for a minute and see whether the right front area responds at all.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Front zones sit closest to the control strip, so work in that area risks the touch assembly as well as the coil being replaced.
- Establishing whether the coil or its feed has failed calls for readings taken at the coil terminals with the appliance isolated.
- Any spill that reached the coil bay has usually reached its neighbors too, and cleaning only the failed zone leaves the next failure already in progress.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Code meanings can change between control generations. Before acting on a code, match the full model number on your appliance's rating label against the manual for that model. We are an independent repair service, not affiliated with Whirlpool Corporation.
