What FC E1 Means
The FC E1 page narrows the FC group to the control surface: JennAir lists the Cooktop User Interface, which the page calls the touchpad, together with its wiring, and leaves the power side out of it entirely.
Common Causes of FC E1
- A touchpad assembly that has stopped responding
- A harness or ribbon problem at the touchpad
- Moisture that has worked into the control seam over time
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Make sure the cooktop is cool and off, clean the touch strip and dry it thoroughly, then reset at the breaker for a minute before treating the interface as failed.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Touchpad and wiring share this code, so the difference between a reseat and a part order is only visible once the assembly is out and tested.
- Getting the assembly out means the glass comes up, and the bonded edge of that glass is where cooktops get written off.
- An interface refitted with its gasket displaced lets the next spill reach the same connection that just failed.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
