What F9Q1 Means
JennAir's F9Q1 page states the oven could not execute the function and names the user interface, written there as touch pad, or the associated wiring. Unlike the plain F9, this one puts the problem at the panel rather than the boards behind it.
Common Causes of F9Q1
- A touch pad assembly that no longer responds correctly
- A ribbon or harness problem at the panel
- Years of steam and grease degrading the membrane
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Clean the touch surface with the microwave cool and off, dry it properly, then reset at the breaker for a minute before assuming the panel has failed.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Panel and wiring share this code, and one of those outcomes is far cheaper than the other, so testing rather than ordering is the sensible first move.
- The panel is removed alongside the high-voltage capacitor on most over-the-range layouts, which is not a part to work beside without knowing how to discharge it.
- Prying at a membrane that feels unresponsive tears it, which converts a possible reseat into a certain replacement.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
