What F3 Means
JennAir's documentation describes F3 as a problem with the oven control itself, or the wiring associated with it — a step up from F1/F2 in that it points more specifically at the control board rather than leaving the sensor as an equally likely cause.
Common Causes of F3
- Failed oven control board
- Damaged or loose wiring between the control board and the oven cavity
- Power surge or outage damage to the control electronics
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Power-cycle at the breaker for a full minute per JennAir's own reset instructions, then monitor the display for a minute before assuming the fault is permanent.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The oven control board manages every heating element and safety interlock in the range, so reseating it incorrectly can silently disable a safety feature.
- Control boards can retain a residual charge briefly after being unplugged, so handling one without discharging it first risks a shock.
- Ordering the wrong control board revision for this specific model is a common and expensive mistake without a proper parts lookup.
- A board installed with one connector reversed can send incorrect signals to the heating elements, creating a worse fault than the one you started with.
- Getting at the control board usually calls for removing a rear panel near the power supply, and that step alone is often enough to affect your remaining warranty coverage — check your terms first.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
