What F1-5 Means
JennAir's product-help page for F1-5 lists three suspects: the oven control, the user interface or keypad, and the wiring between them. Unlike the sensor codes in the same F1-x family, this one is about the control and the panel you press failing to agree.
Common Causes of F1-5
- A keypad membrane that has worn through and is reporting a press that is not happening
- A ribbon connection between panel and control that has backed off
- An oven control that is no longer reading the panel correctly
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the range cool, look over the touch panel for anything sitting on it, a smear of spilled food, or moisture behind the glass, then drop the breaker for a minute and bring it back before trying again.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- With three named suspects and no way to see any of them from outside, replacing one on the strength of the code is a coin toss with a parts bill attached.
- Prying at a pad that feels stuck tears the membrane, and a torn membrane turns a cleaning job into a whole new touch panel.
- The ribbon tail is held by a small locking bar that snaps if it is lifted rather than slid, after which nothing seats firmly no matter what else gets replaced.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
