What F04 Means
F04 carries the same description as F03 on JennAir's product-help pages for the older two-digit ranges: a problem with the electronic oven control or the wiring connected to it. The two are separate entries in the code table but land in the same place for repair purposes.
Common Causes of F04
- A failed section of the electronic oven control
- A wiring problem between the control and the rest of the range
- Repeated supply surges that have degraded the control over time
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Power down at the breaker for a minute and back up, then leave the range untouched for a minute - if the code returns before you have asked for heat, the control is not going to recover on its own.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- F03 and F04 share a description, so the code alone will not tell you which part of the control gave out, and a board is far too costly to swap on a guess.
- Working behind the control panel on an older range means handling brittle wiring insulation that cracks where it is bent, adding problems rather than removing them.
- Boards are model-specific down to the revision, and one bought on the strength of a photograph is very often the wrong one.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
