What F01 Means

On the older JennAir ranges that show plain two-digit F codes rather than the later F#E# pairs, JennAir's product-help page puts F01 in the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the wiring running between the two. It is the same family of problem as the newer sensor codes, just from an earlier generation of control.

Common Causes of F01

  • An oven temperature sensor that has drifted well outside its normal resistance range
  • A break or chafed spot in the sensor lead on its way back to the control
  • An older control that can no longer read the sensor circuit reliably

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Turn the range off at the breaker for a minute and bring it back up, then give the display a minute before you ask for heat - a sensor circuit that is genuinely open or shorted will bring F01 straight back.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Separating a dead sensor from a broken lead calls for resistance readings taken with the range fully isolated, and the numbers only mean something against the spec for that particular model.
  • Ranges old enough to use this code are often past the point where a wrong part can simply be returned, so guessing at the sensor when the wiring is to blame is money that does not come back.
  • The sensor lead enters the cavity through a grommet; pulled out of its clip while the rear panel is off, it ends up lying on hot metal and the insulation slowly cooks away.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

F01 FAQ

Often yes. A temperature sensor is one of the cheaper parts on a range, and on the older JennAir platforms it is still a routine replacement rather than a rebuild.

It may heat, but nothing is regulating it properly, so anything you bake is guesswork until the sensor circuit is sorted out.
