What F58 Means
JennAir's F58 page names the Cooktop Power Control Board or the associated wiring. It shares its description with F42 and F43, which is JennAir's way of saying several different internal checks on the same board report through their own codes.
Common Causes of F58
- A problem detected by the power control board's own monitoring
- A connection between the board and a coil or element that has degraded
- Board damage caused by an earlier overheat
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Reset at the breaker for one minute, then let the cooktop sit idle for a minute and see whether F58 returns without any zone being selected.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Because F42, F43 and F58 all name the same board, a technician reads the exact code as a pointer to which internal check tripped rather than as three interchangeable problems.
- Anything under the glass carries either full mains current or stored charge, and induction modules in particular hold energy after the breaker is opened.
- A board fitted without cleaning up whatever overheated the first one usually fails the same way inside a year.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
