What F0 or F00 Means

JennAir's cooktop page for F0, also shown as F00 on some displays, says an object, liquids, or soils are putting pressure on the control panel. The touch controls read anything resting on them as a finger, so the cooktop stops rather than act on a command nobody gave it.

Common Causes of F0 or F00

  • Something left lying across the touch control strip
  • Spilled liquid bridging the control area
  • Baked-on soil sitting over a key position

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Make sure every cooking area is switched off and the glass is cool before you touch it, then lift away whatever is sitting on the control strip and wipe the surface dry - a pan handle, a wet cloth or a sugar spill is enough to hold a key down.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Wiping a control strip while a zone is still live means working directly over touch circuitry that is powered and waiting for input.
  • This is the kind of code that gets misread as a dead touch controller, and replacing a control assembly for a wipe-down is an expensive misdiagnosis.
  • Scraping at hardened soil over the keys scratches the printed touch area, and once that is damaged the key never responds evenly again.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

F0 or F00 FAQ

A code that survives a proper clean has moved past debris and into the touch control itself, which is a technician's job rather than a cleaning one.

The controls sense capacitance through the glass, so a film of liquid reads much like a fingertip and the control cannot tell the difference.
