What F5 E0 Means

On a JennAir range the display reads F5 on older controls or F5 E0 on newer ones. JennAir says the cause may be the door latch assembly, the door switch, or the wiring that connects them. The control needs a clear signal that the door is closed and latched before it will run, so while the code shows the range may refuse to start. The second part of the code, as in E0, names the specific latch or switch condition, and JennAir also keeps a separate page for F05. The first step JennAir gives is to cut power at the breaker for 1 minute, restore it, and check again. Source: JennAir producthelp: F5 E0 - Error Code - Range.

Common Causes of F5 E0

  • A door latch assembly that is sticking or not moving fully into place
  • A door switch that is not reporting the door position
  • Loose, pinched or damaged wiring between the latch, the switch and the control
  • A door that sits slightly out of square so the latch and switch do not line up

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Make sure the range is off and cool, then open the door fully and close it again, checking for foil, a rack edge or anything else caught at the frame. Switch the circuit breaker off for one full minute, switch it back on, and watch the display for a minute to see whether the code returns. If the door is locked after a clean cycle, let the oven cool completely and do not force it. If F5 E0 comes back, stop using the oven and call us.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The latch sits inside the oven frame next to live wiring, and forcing a locked door can bend the latch or the door.
  • The code does not say which of the three named parts has failed, so it takes a hands-on test to tell them apart.
  • Reaching the latch means working on the door and frame, which is better left to a technician.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

F5 E0 FAQ

JennAir says there may be a problem with the door latch assembly, the door switch, or the associated wiring. The code does not say which one, so a technician tests all three.

Those hyphenated codes also point to the door latch and lock switch on a range, so the cause is closely related, but each one is its own display. Read the exact characters on the display before you call.
