What E_03 Means
JennAir's documentation describes E_03 as an object, liquid, or soil putting pressure on the control panel and causing the fault — a touch-sensing issue rather than a heating or electronics failure.
Common Causes of E_03
- An object resting on the touch control area
- Spilled liquid or food debris on the control panel
- A physically damaged section of the touch control surface
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Remove any object left on the control area and wipe away any spilled liquid or debris from the control panel surface, then power-cycle at the breaker if needed — JennAir's own guidance leads with exactly this check.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Wiping the panel without cutting power first means working next to live touch-control circuitry.
- This can be mistaken for a full touch-controller failure, leading to a wrong, more expensive part being replaced.
- Prying at a suspected damaged section of the touch surface risks worsening the damage, turning a cleaning fix into a full panel replacement.
- A closer look inside the control panel usually comes at the cost of whatever warranty remains on the control assembly.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
