What F3 E1 Means
On JennAir's wall oven pages F3 E1 is specific to the lower cavity: it names the Lower Oven Temperature Sensor, the control, or the wiring between them. On a double wall oven that matters, because the upper cavity has its own sensor and its own code.
Common Causes of F3 E1
- A lower cavity temperature sensor reading outside its accepted range
- A damaged sensor lead in the lower cavity harness
- A control that has lost the lower sensor input
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Drop the breaker for a minute and bring it back, then note whether the code returns on its own or only once you start the lower oven - that detail saves a technician real time on arrival.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- On a double oven the two cavities share one harness run, and disturbing the lower sensor plug while reaching past the upper one is an easy way to create a second problem.
- Proving which of the three named parts failed takes resistance readings against the specification for your model, taken with the oven completely isolated.
- Double wall ovens are heavy and tall, and drawing one out of its cabinet single-handed is how cabinet faces and floors get damaged.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
