What FC LF Means
The two letters in FC LF are a position, not a number: JennAir's page puts the problem at the left front cooking position, listing the hotplate there and its wiring. That directness is what sets this small family of codes apart from the rest of the cooktop list.
Common Causes of FC LF
- A failed element or induction coil at the left front position
- A burnt or loose terminal at that zone
- Damaged wiring between the power board and the left front coil
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Note whether the left front zone does anything at all when selected, and whether the others behave normally, then reset at the breaker for a minute; those two observations tell a technician most of what the code does not.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A zone that has been failing gradually usually leaves heat damage at a terminal, and that damage has to be made good rather than covered by a new coil.
- Coil and element terminals carry full load current and remain hot long after the surface above them feels cool.
- Fitting a replacement coil at the wrong height on its sprung mounts leaves that zone heating unevenly and buzzing against the glass.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
