What F3 E3 Means

JennAir's F3 E3 page for wall ovens names the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the wiring tying them together. It sits in the same F3 group as the other sensor codes and differs from them in which cavity and which failure mode the control logged, not in the hardware involved.

Common Causes of F3 E3

  • A temperature sensor that has drifted far enough to be rejected
  • A pinched or chafed sensor lead behind the cavity liner
  • A control that can no longer interpret the sensor circuit

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Cut power at the breaker for a minute and restore it, then run the oven up to a moderate temperature with an independent oven thermometer inside - if the reading is badly out, that is worth telling the technician before they arrive.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • A drifting sensor and a broken lead look the same from the front of the oven, and the difference only shows on a meter with the appliance dead.
  • The sensor lead is a fixed length clipped along the cavity, so a rear panel pulled further than the lead allows tears the connector off the far end.
  • A sensor refitted a little proud of the liner reads the air rather than the cavity, leaving the oven inaccurate with a brand-new part in it.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

F3 E3 FAQ

The oven's temperature control is not trustworthy while this is active, so anything time-and-temperature critical is guesswork until it is fixed.

It is one of the cheaper parts in a wall oven; most of the cost of this repair is the labor of getting the unit out of its cabinet safely.
